Purpose
After attending a conference, he made the decision of training his church to win souls and reach people. Nowadays, the church has more than 1,400 people in attendance on Sunday mornings and more than 800 in the evenings. Presently, that church has more than 200 people that go out soul winning on a weekly basis. Since 1984 until now, in a city of approximately 600,000 people, they have knocked on every door more than 30 times and have won thousands to Christ. This is only one of many examples. Over the years, countless pastors have given testimony that soul winning was the key concept they learned at a Fires of Evangelism Conference which led to the transformation of their ministries.

The common philosophy in most Spanish-speaking churches was to bring people to church and preach the Gospel to them at church on Sunday. Our goal was to motivate existing churches to do more. So, we began training churches to win souls by going out to the sinners. Not only to hand out literature, but to share with them the plan of salvation, to win them to Christ, to bring them to church to be baptized, and to disciple them.

After all, that is the Great Commission given to us in Matthew 28: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”  The idea was that of pruning and fertilizing a tree so that it could give much fruit, abundantly and continually for many years. Churches are not only motivated and trained in soul winning, but they are also challenged regarding separation, sanctification, and being filled with the Spirit of God. The fact is that one church that were to be set on fire for God would be capable of reaching its entire area for Christ in less time than it would take a foreign missionary to go to Bible college, learn the language, and raise enough support to go to the field.

Another fundamental reason for our conferences is encouraging the many young people at these churches to surrender their lives to serve the Lord full-time. It is estimated that more than 10,000 people have surrendered their lives to serve the Lord full-time at a Fires of Evangelism Conference since their beginning. To date, there are literally hundreds of pastors who are presently serving the Lord that surrendered their lives to Christ at a Fires of Evangelism Conference; this is without counting many more who are assistant pastors, secretaries, teachers, etc.

So far, the Lord has blessed in an amazing way. By the grace of God, the impact that these conferences are having throughout Latin America is immeasurable. In Mexico alone, the number of independent fundamental Baptist churches has grown from about 600 to over 2,000 in the last few decades, and the number of professing Christians has grown from just under one million to over ten million. Many pastors attest that this growth is directly related to the influence of the Fires of Evangelism Conferences.
Please pray that God will continue to use this ministry to help reach the Spanish-speaking world for Christ. If the Lord leads you, please consider taking part by donating today.

The burden of training and motivating Spanish-speaking pastors and missionaries has always been the main purpose behind the Fires of Evangelism Conferences. The key to the transformation of an entire ministry is reaching the pastor. You can motivate the people, but if the pastor does not grasp the vision, more often than not the enthusiasm to do something great for God will fade. That is why pastors are our main focus. One great example of this is Pastor Alejandro Cordova who had a small church of approximately 80 members in the early 1980s.
